Catch up
I’ve been slacking on the blog front so far this year, I’ve just been so busy doing and haven’t taken enough time to post about what it is that I’ve been up to. So here are a few completed jobs from the year that I’ve had the pleasure of working on.
Bag End
Completed: March 2025
This listed cottage, purchased by the client from the Castle Howard estate, was in need of a full renovation. The client left no stone unturned when it came to doing all that was required, including a full re-plastering, in lime, throughout.
Two coats of hot lime render were applied to all the walls and finished off with my hot lime top coat.
Each corner was fitted with a staff bead and finished with quirks.
The client was so pleased with the finish that they aren’t even going to paint the walls, which is the highest compliment I could receive.
West End
Completed: June 2025
This was a great project with the client opting for a more textured finished lime render as opposed to it being floated off smooth. The brief was to render the entire rear elevation of the property and a plinth at the front.
The client asked for a nice creamy/sandy coloured tone as they weren’t wanting to paint it and also wanted a mix that they could point the front of the house with, to match in with the render. So after some experimentation with different sands I came up with a mix that did the job.
Manor Farm
Completed: July 2025
This office studio space was a joy to work on. I had free rein to form my curved reveals and add little details around the beams. Hemp lime base coats were applied for added insulation and my sieved, fine top coat provided a smooth finish.
End House Farm
Completed: September 2025
The initial brief was to lime plaster the living room, the job then grew to lime plaster the snug as well and also plastering the kitchen extension.
This whole space is going to be something special when it’s complete.
Feature Fireplaces
Completed: October 2025
And in the last week I’ve finished off some feature fireplace walls. Loving how these have turned out, I even used the client’s own horse’s hair for one of them.
The next blog post won’t be such a long wait… I promise. Plenty of exciting things lined up to share with you. Thanks for reading.
